Program
Brahms’ two great sextets constitute two of the season’s highlights. They will be performed by the Casals and Belcea Quartets in two exceptional concerts.Sextet no. 2, which we can hear in this concert was written in the rural setting of Baden-Baden in 1864-1865, although its first performance was not until 1866 in Boston. The Casals Quartet will also be playing one of the quartets that Mozart dedicated to Haydn and op. 44 by Kurtág.
