Anyone who has listened to the symphonies of Martin Scherber may wonder why, when his contemporary avant-garde composers were striving to “emancipate music” from all traditional customs, he felt attracted by this particular style of musical language.
On performing and composing musical pieces, he soon discovered “how I was embedded in something, enveloped as it were, in music, in a womb of sound. My consciousness was different to that of everyday.” These experiences that were mystifying to him led to a long journey of exploration. This is why, when still young, he began to develop meditative practices to deal with the inner and outer worlds. And this approach is reflected in his biography.
“Art must become necessary, must be taken to such a level that all existence and creation breathe freedom and love of mankind, which are the time to come.”
Martin Scherber (1972)

The Orquestra Simfònica Camera Musicae (OCM), founded in 2006, has been warmly received by the general public thanks to its work in popularising classical music across a broad range of sectors, especially focussing on young music lovers. It has performed in venues including the Palau de la Música Catalana, L’Auditori de Barcelona, the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao and the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia. The OCM rolls out its own concert seasons with in-house productions across Barcelona, Tarragona and Lleida.
Tomàs Grau has been principal conductor and artistic director right from the very beginning, and since the 2017-2018 season, maestro Salvador Mas has taken up the baton as guest conductor, a position previously held by Jordi Mora and José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana. The OCM launched its resident project at the Tivoli Auditorium in Vendrell during the 2009-2010 season, which is still ongoing.
The Orquestra Simfònica Camera Musicae has collaborated with conductors such as Antoni Ros Marbà, Edmon Colomer, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Josep Caballé Domenech, John Rutter, Virginia Martínez, Salvador Brotons, Diego Martin-Etxebarria and Massimo Spadano, and soloists including Stephen Kovacevich, Sabine Meyer, Steven Isserlis, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Alexander Melnikov, Seong-Jin Cho, Alice Sara Ott, Sayaka Shoji, Albrecht Mayer, Clara-Jumi Kang, Ainhoa Arteta, Asier Polo, Leticia Moreno, Pablo Ferrández, Judith Jáuregui and Rafael Aguirre.
