Els Amics de la Gent Gran gaudiran de l’OBC i del violí d’Alina Ibragimova

27-Nov-2019 – Aleix Palau

The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra led by Kazushi Ono will perform Tchaikovsky’s 5th tomorrow, as the eighth programme of the season, to a very special audience, a group of 300 people from the Amics de la Gent Gran.

Amics de la Gent Gran is an organisation that aims to combat the loneliness and marginalisation to which thousands of elderly people are exposed by means of volunteers who provide emotional support and raise awareness in society through social projects and campaigns.

Thus, 150 volunteers will accompany 150 elderly people to enjoy the OBC concert. This event staged by L’Auditori and the OBC aims to bring music to the various social groups around them.

Alina Ibragimova is one of Europe’s most acclaimed young talents: the daughter of musicians and a virtuoso from a very young age, she has consolidated her fame with her special sensitivity when performing varied repertoires. We have heard her at L’Auditori before, performing Bach and Ysaÿe, and we now have the opportunity to be able to listen to her performance of Britten’s Concerto, a work that he started planning after his stay in Barcelona in 1936 and that was premiered in New York’s Carnegie Hall by the Catalan violinist Antoni Brossa.

Kazushi Ono opens the programme with the most internationally renowned Japanese composer and concludes it with Tchaikovsky’s intense “Fifth”, a symphony in which the composer reflects on fate and exploits the resources of the Romantic orchestra to the maximum.
