Tarta Relena

Thunderous folk and progressive Gregorian. Marta Torrella and Helena Ros chose this enigmatic, evocative sub-heading to define Tarta Relena, the a cappella duo founded by the two singers in 2016 to explore the sounds of different vocal styles. Far from creating a project with strong traditional influences or attempting to define "Mediterraneanness", Tarta Relena aspires to develop a repertoire ranging from orally handed down music to songs by singer-songwriters related in some way to the Mediterranean area. Torrella and Ros will be presenting their latest album at L’Auditori, where the timbres of both their voices enter into dialogue in multiple ways: intertwining or entangling with one another, flowing like water or scratching like a rockrose. Their voices split into sharp dissonances and later re-converge, seeking complexity in simplicity and maximum expression through minimum elements.
