This is a weekend featuring a lavish repertoire at L’Auditori with the concerts programmed by theBarcelona Symphony Orchestra and the Barcelona Symphony Band. In total there will be five sessions, with theOBC performing Beethoven’s five piano concertos and the Barcelona Symphony Band bringing us the magnificent Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
This evening, tomorrow and Sunday morning, the brilliant pianist and conductor Rudolf Buchbinder returns once again to lead the OBC, offering the complete five piano concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven. This much-anticipated event within L’Auditori’s Beethoven250 Festival will allow audiences to rediscover one of the greatest contemporary performers of Beethoven’s works.
Also, on Sunday 23 and Monday 24, the Barcelona Symphony Band will present one of the most epic symphonic-choral works of the 20th century: Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff. The Band’s principal conductor, José R. Pascual Vilaplana, will be accompanied by the Cantiga, Sinera and Sant Jordi choirs – three prestigious Catalan ensembles – and soprano Ulrike Haller, counter-tenor Jordi Domènech and baritone Toni Marsol.
