The Emergents Barcelona Festival presents the trumpeter Pol Omedes, one of the most ‎restless and surprising musicians of the new generation of Catalan musicians.‎Pol Omedes is one of the most restless and surprising musicians of the new generation of ‎Catalan musicians. Having paid his dues as a sideman in a wide range of projects, in 2016 he ‎made his debut as a composer and leader with Mallorca. Pol Omedes with Strings ‎‎(Fresh Sound New Talent), is a disc that sets out from traditional jazz roots and embraces ‎contemporary sounds. In the wake of this project, Omedes comes to L’Auditori with a deluxe ‎quintet comprising rising European stars Mátyás Gayer and Mátyás Hofecker, drummer Joan ‎Casares and percussionist José Carlos Cubas, who brings Cuban brush-strokes to the group’s ‎post-bop sound. The band perfectly assimilates the jazz tradition without this hindering them ‎from offering up their personal vision of jazz standards and their own original compositions.‎
