The OBCPOPS series kicks off this season, offering a different way to listen to and enjoy the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra. The first concert will feature the showing of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park on the big screen, with a live performance of the soundtrack from composer John Williams by the OBC, conducted by Anthony Gabriele. The event will take place on 11, 12 and 13 October in Pau Casals Hall 1.
Jazz, musicals and more soundtracks round off a programme for all audiences
The next OBCPOPS event will be in November with jazz legend Brad Mehldau and the OBC, a co-commission with institutions such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Luxembourg Philharmonic and the London Jazz Festival, as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Barcelona Jazz Festival.
A December highlight is the 100 Years of Bernstein and the American Musical programme, in which the OBC will revisit the music of this wonderful composer, filling the stage with light, colour, rhythm, tenderness and good humour. The series will be rounded off with the film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, also featuring a live soundtrack performance.
