L’Auditori will be taking part in the 30th anniversary of La Marató with three concerts and the preview of the documentary “Música, la Medecina de l’Ànima” (Music, Medicine for the Soul). These activities will help raise funds through the various donation points that will be distributed throughout L’Auditori.
The programme, performed by the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra on 18 and 19 December, will feature conductor Anja Bihlmaier, who returns to lead the OBC, and clarinettist Pablo Barragán, who will perform the Clarinet Concerto by Carl Nielsen. The two evenings will be completed with the Second Symphony by Sibelius and Liguria by composer Andrea Tarrodi.
The Barcelona Symphony Band will participate in La Marató with its Christmas Concert (19 December), a spectacular event featuring Coral Carmina and Coral Sant Jordi, conducted by José R. Pascual-Vilaplana, and with music by Camille Saint-Saëns and John Rutter.
Finally, at 6 pm on 15 December, Sala 2 Oriol Martorell will be screening the premiere of the documentary “Música, la Medecina de l’Ànima”, by Ferran Llagostera. The documentary was made with the collaboration of L’Auditori and the participation of various groups and personalities such as Jordi Savall. It aims to show, in a human, heartfelt, respectful and entertaining way, how music, through music therapy, can enhance mental wellbeing, awaken emotions, give pleasure and sweeten and improve people’s quality of life.
“ Música, la Medecina de l’Ànima” will be presented by its director, Ferran Llagostera and will feature the composer and sound therapist José Manuel Pagán, who provided guidance during the documentary, and Ulrich Bosch, from the Heidehof Stiftung Foundation. The documentary will be followed by a performance by the music therapy students of the special education centres Estimia-El Niu and Moragas.
