MARABUNTA & FRIENDS, DE GUILLEM ALBÀ, A LES ESCENES DE L’AUDITORI

02-Mar-2016 – Lisi Andrés

Marabunta is all set for a very special show with top class cameos such as Sol Picó, Jango Edwards, Txarango and Aina Clotet

It’s Marabunta’s anniversary and Guillem Albà and their troupe of musicians figured that the best way to celebrate it to the full would be to perform as part of the Auditori’s ESCENES season. So Marabunta & Friends came with an original, one-off show with a unique format which is set to shake up Sala 2 Oriol Martorell on 18 March. In addition to the powerful and energetic clown show, catapulted by the best live music from Marabunta, are surprises and appearances by celebrities from the world of theatre, music and dance such as Sol Picó, Jango Edwards, Txarango and Joan Garriga, among other surprises. And nothing less would be enough to celebrate two years on tour, with over 150 shows, 50,000 spectators and the Guillem Albà company’s 10 years of life.
This Marabunta & Friends show, which will be performed as part of the Auditori’s ESCENES season, will be the starting point for the Marabunta 2016 Tour, which will take in the entire Peninsula and spread the vital message of this marvellous madness throughout the year. With Marabunta, the Auditori’s ESCENES season, combining music and performing arts, reaches its halfway point. The following dates will be the Nits del Caballo Bailador (1, 2 and 3 April) with Za!, Sara Fontán, Cabo San Roque, Clara Tena, Natalia Jiménez and Victoria Macarte and Circ Pistolet & Seis Pájaros de Un Tiro. Incert (27, 28 and 29 of May).

More about Marabunta

Marabunta is madness. It’s chaos with class. But they don’t want either of these. All the time with a smile on their face. Marabunta is a show produced by Guillem Albà and The All In Orchestra. A sketch with a mathematical tempo. On the stage the artists struggle because they understand nothing. Their own songs. Absurd gags. Cabaret. Nothing makes sense and anything is possible. There’s no established order. It’s the chaos of the clown. Improvisation: go out and play. Enjoy yourself no matter what, and who knows what will happen today. Or tomorrow. Or the day after. This is the jungle. You want to laugh? You’re invited.
On the stage the expert madness of a young clown about to explode. Guillem Albà. Look at him. It’s him. He’s here now. He has class but zero dignity. He doesn’t want it at all, and gives it to whoever does. Fasten your belts and get ready for the ride. He’s mad and capable of anything. Behind, six cut out silhouettes. Playing confidently and pleasing the crowd. Marabunta. Rapid fingers. Passion. Capable of taming any musical style they’re challenged with. They combine their experience and ratchet it up a notch. They ooze mature talent and know-how. They’re multi-dimensional, and hold nothing back. All in.
Marabunta has received various awards since it debuted, including the Audience Award at the Mostra d’Igualada 2015, the Audience Award at Fira de Titelles de Lleida 2014 and the Audience Award at the Mostra Santa Eugènia 2014.

More about ESCENES at the Auditori
The second season of ESCENES started last December with the repeat of the show El Clown Leandre and the Barcelona Clarinet Players, selling out completely as they did during their debut in 2014. January was the turn of Café d’Automne, featuring ballerina Claire Ducreux and singer Mayte. A universe of little moments and encounters with different characters in a park setting on an autumn evening, which also sold out. Companyia Bratislava comes after the musical theatre. They debuted the Catalan adaptation of the comic operetta La vie parisienne, by Jacques Offenbach, at the Auditori. A small-format musical and a satirical critique of the bourgeois lifestyle and mass tourism, set in 21st century Barcelona and entitled Oh My God Barcelona! After Marabunta & Friends we have dance at the Auditori in April, with the Nits del Caballo Bailador. The Auditori will host the first Nits del Caballo, which will combine the music of ZA! and the violinist Sara Fontán, the sound machines of Cabo San Roque, as well as three young talents on the dance scene today: Clara Tena, Natalia Jiménez and Victoria Macarte. In May it will be the turn of Incert, from Circ Pistolet, awarded the Premis Zirkòlika 2014 (BBVA Grand Prize and best director), which will be presented in three different shows, with live music by Víctor Morató and Seis Pájaros de un Tiro. Six silhouettes running around the stage searching for a collective identity in the face of uncertainty and non-existence. A spectacle of acrobatic balancing acts which will amaze the younger spectators and surprise the older audience with their dialogue.
The Auditori’s 14/15 season kicked off the ESCENES programme with the aim of creating unique shows based on music combined with other performing arts and art disciplines. The proposal was an audience success and received excellent reviews. The Sifonòfor show, a production by the company Animal Religion, produced and premiered by ESCENES, was awarded this year with the BBVA Grand Prize of the Premis Zirkòlika 2015 and the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona. This recognition was also received by experimental rock duo ZA!, who’ll be visiting ESCENES in April.
