L’Auditori de Barcelona dedica un monogràfic a Karlheinz Stockhausen

As part of the Sampler Sèries cycle, produced with the support of the ‎Sabadell Foundation, L’Auditori de Barcelona presents a concert dedicated entirely ‎to the music of German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. ‎

Taking place tomorrow, Friday 16 April at 7 pm, the performance will ‎provide an exceptional listening experience where the audience will be ‎seated in the stalls of Hall 2, Oriol Martorell and will be ‎‎surrounded by the quadrophonic sound of the music of Stockhausen.‎

Karlheinz Stockhausen is one of the key figures of twentieth century ‎music, a pioneer in pushing the boundaries of musical technique in the post-war ‎period. A tireless developer of new musical forms, including electronic music, “intuitive ‎music”, spatialisation and the use of serial techniques to control all the parameters of sound, ‎his influence led to an almost theological approach to the art of composition.‎

His works are entirely individual and unmistakeable, with universal appeal ‎based on two guiding principles in the treatment of sound: the omnipresent concept of unity ‎and the neutralisation of confrontations. Sampler Sèries presents a retrospective with ‎‎three key works from his oeuvre composed from the 1940s to the 1960s, ‎classics of twentieth-century music and the forerunners of an incredible legacy: ‎‎Zyklus (1959) for a solo percussionist, ‎‎Klavierstücke IX (1955) for solo piano and ‎‎Mikrophonie I (1964) for tam-tam, two microphones, and ‎two filters with potentiometers.‎

The pieces will be performed by musicians who specialise in this repertoire, including ‎‎Lluïsa Espigolé, one of the most renowned European musicians in the field of ‎contemporary music, the percussion ensemble Frames Percussion and ‎Ángel Faraldo and Gerard Valverde with live electronics.‎
