L’Auditori de Barcelona i l’OBC dediquen el programa d’aquest cap de setmana a La Marató de TV3

18-Dec-2020 – Aleix Palau

The music of Debussy, Brahms, and the premiere of a work by composer Núria Giménez Comas will be the highlights of the two extraordinary concerts that L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra are this weekend dedicating in support of La Marató de TV3.

This year La Marató is fundraising for the fight against COVID-19 and L’Auditori de Barcelona will be playing its part by setting up several points where the public who come to the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra concerts on Saturday and Sunday will be able to make donations.

In addition, the audience for the Sunday concert will include a hundred very special guests: cleaning, kitchen and maintenance staff from Hospital Clínic. These groups, a key part of the fight against the pandemic, are among the most highly exposed and least visible, and this is our way of trying to show our appreciation for the essential work they are doing to combat the virus.

The programme will be conducted by Lionel Bringuier and features two great symphonic works, the overture from The Hebrides by Felix Mendelssohn and Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68, by Johannes Brahms.

The programme will be rounded off by the premiere of Ad limen caeli (Towards the Threshold of Heaven) by the composer from Girona, Núria Giménez Comas, which revisits fragments, images, harmonies and passages from the Mass in B minor by Johann Sebastian Bach.
