Gairebé mig milió de persones gaudeixen de la primera setmana de concerts des d’Europa a través de Facebook

31-Mar-2020 – Aleix Palau

The first week of the Music of the day from Europe’s Concert Halls project has ‎succeeded in reaching an audience of 458,833 people. This means that ‎‎almost half a million people from across Europe have enjoyed the concert ‎that every day at 8 pm various concert halls, members of ECHO including ‎L’Auditori, are offering simultaneously via Facebook. ‎

In fact, around 50,000 people viewed these concerts from L’Auditori’s Facebook ‎page alone, and the project is expected to continue for as long as the lockdown ‎measures remain in place. Over these initial days, performances have been broadcast from ‎Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the Palau ‎de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Megaron Athens, ‎and also from the Sagrada Família, offered by L’Auditori with the Barcelona Symphony ‎Orchestra. ‎

This week’s concerts will take us to Oporto, Vienna, Dortmund, and to Amsterdam once ‎again. This latter performance, which will be on Friday 3 April, will be very ‎special as it will be the broadcast in full of the St. Matthew Passion by ‎Bach from Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, with Iván Fischer conducting and ‎soloists including Mark Padmore and María Espada. As this is a long piece, the ‎concert will start at 7 pm, an hour earlier than usual. ‎

During Easter Week, the St. John Passion by Bach will also be ‎broadcast. This will be on Friday 10 April from the Philharmonie in Cologne ‎with the Bach Collegium Japan conducted by Peter Kautz. ‎
