L’Auditori apropa la música del segle XXI als més joves amb l’espectacle Out of the [Cage]

04-Mar-2020 – Aleix Palau

Percussion, performance and video ‎creation join forces to serve new music with musical direction by Frames ‎Percussion and stage direction byIban Beltran and Ana ‎Pérez García. The ‎set furniture has been designed and built by the‏ ‏‎Arrels Fundació, an organisation that offers care and advice for people ‎living on the streets in Barcelona.‎

Out of the [Cage] is the new concert from L’Auditori’s Servei Educatiu ‎‎(Educational Service), a show in which the youngest audiences can discover music of recent ‎years at the hands of a group of percussionists led by Frames Percussion, with stage direction ‎by Iban Beltran and Ana Pérez García, and video creation by Aymée Hamon.‎

Between today and Friday 6, there will be performances for schoolchildren, and on Saturday ‎‎7, it will be the turn of families, with all tickets having already sold out. ‎
The performance is geared towards school children and families, especially youngsters, not ‎only as a concert but as an artistic experience that aims to provoke ‎questions.‎

The show is based on the artistic imaginary of composer John Cage, a ‎leading figure in 20th-‎century‏ ‏music, and draws on his work and also that of contemporary ‎composers such as Pierre Jodlowski, Georges Aperghis, Cie. Kahlua, Steppenwolf, ‎Fritz Hauser, and others. ‎

The title Out of the [Cage] is a wordplay on the name of John Cage and the idea ‎of “stepping out of the cage”, something that involves entering a world where ‎sound, noise and silence become music.‎
Traditional electronics and percussion are mixed with ‎‎improvised instruments, such as vegetables, fruits and household ‎appliances to create a show that does away with any preconceptions and is full of ‎unexpected effects. ‎

The show’s artistic team comprises: ‎
Ferran Carceller Amorós, percussion / Rubén Orio, percussion / Feliu Ribera Riera, percussion ‎‎/ ‎Miquel Vich Vila, percussion / Núria Giménez Comas and Sirah Martínez, real-time ‎electronics / ‎Frames Percussion, musical direction / Iban Beltran and Ana Pérez García, stage ‎direction‏ ‏‎/ ‎Aymée Hamon, video creation‏ ‏‎/ Illustrations, Roger Pibernat‏ ‏‎/ Educational ‎concept, Pepe ‎Reche.‎

The set furniture has been designed and built by the Arrels Fundació, an ‎organisation that offers care and advice for people living on the streets in ‎Barcelona. ‎Arrels supports people to help them achieve the most independent life possible, covering ‎their basic needs, providing them with social and health care and guaranteeing ‎accommodation to those in the most vulnerable situations. They also work to raise ‎awareness amongst the public, report unjust situations and ‎‎offer solutions to the authorities and civil society seeking to ensure that ‎no-one is forced to sleep on the street.‎
