Program
La trace, a work commissioned by L’Auditori and the CNDM for four clarinets, first performed in February 2020 at the Museo Reina Sofía, is based on the perception of the imprint of time. José Manuel López-López and film-maker and audiovisual artist Pascal Auger, former associate of French philosopher Gilles Deleuze, together explore the traces of the passage of time, not as a chronological succession of events but as something living, manifested in the here and now. The clash between combinations of image and sound from the clarinets together with live electronics unleashes a world of multiple polyphonic layers, each with its own temporal character.
As the author explains: “Time passes as if in an immense hourglass, in a gigantic polyphony that embraces cosmic, geological and quantum time”.
