Xavi Torres is one of the leading musicians on the Catalan jazz scene. Torres, a composer and pianist, studied both classical and jazz music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam conservatory. This has given him a mastery of his instrument and a versatile use of this language that have made him succeed in competitions such as the Keep an Eye International Jazz Award and the Thelonious Monk Jazz Piano Competition.Xavi Torres will perform some of maestro Beethoven’s sonatas rearranged for trio. Starting from his great respect for the original work, Torres will transfer the music to his own field and explain it through the rhythmic exuberance, rich tonality and depth of texture that characterise his language.
