Programme
Formed by members of the Barcelona Municipal Band, the TetraBrass BCN Ensemble introduces us to little-known sounds with a repertoire ranging from the Renaissance and early Baroque music to works by contemporary composers.
The concert presented at L’Auditori de Barcelona is an example of this interest in a variety of languages. Thus, the works of organists Juan Cabanilles and Andrea Gabrieli reveal the fine blending of voices typical of the early Baroque. Anton Bruckner and Leonard Bernstein represent two different approaches to the Western musical canon: Gregorian chant created from a spotlessly romantic sensibility and the fanfare dedicated to a good friend’s dog. And a look at local contemporaneity brings us to the theatrical Suite Pantomímica by Salvador Brotons, the eight sonorous Mirades to the work of painter Benjamí Palència, by José R. Pasqual-Vilaplana; the Quatre mini-fanfàrries des de la torre del Rei Martí,by Feliu Gasull, and Bima’s Theme, by TetraBrass member Carlos Lizondo.
