Programme
Now that Serrat is blowing out 80 candles, the Barcelona Art Orchestra wanted to throw him a concert. One in which to revisit his music but blurring the lines by adding art and improv. With five voices – all of them women – perhaps seeking a gender reversal for one of the country’s most identifiable and beloved male timbres. Five voices, five arrangers and a collective of performers and improvisers to celebrate Joan Manuel Serrat. Opening up the singer-songwriter’s music to jazz, as his great friend Tete Montoliu did, but with ideas and orchestral languages close to the jazz big band that leans towards chamber music. Each arrangement, an identity. A collective portrait of a unique man.
