Paul McCreesh and the fabulous Gabrieli Consort & Players, bring us Henry Purcell’s opera, King Arthur.Today marks the arrival of Henry Purcell’s semi-opera King Arthur, relating the efforts of King Arthur to rescue a Cornish princess who has been abducted by the King of Kent. After having staged Dido & Aeneas, The Fairy Queen and the composer’s most renowned odes, we now complete a cycle in which we have sought to vindicate the mastery of the great 17th-century English composer. This time it is brought to us by Paul McCreesh and the exceptional Gabrieli Consort & Players.
