Program
To mark the centenary of the death of the composer from Lleida, Enric Granados, the L’Auditori has commissioned trombonist and Flamenco signer Pablo Martínez to revisit the work “Goyescas”, giving it a jazz and flamenco treatment.Pablo Martínez Group Revisiting Goyescas takes as a starting point the Goyescas of the composer from Lleida, Enric Granados, a masterpiece originally written for piano but which later gave rise to the eponymous opera. From the perspective of jazz and flamenco, both styles that Martínez works with, the Goyescas reaches a new dimension in terms of its stylistic adaptation and the band formation itself, where the melodic weight is carried by Lluc Casares on sax and Pau Martínez on trombone, backed by a rhythm section with Xavi Torres on piano, Marc López on flamenco guitar, Joan Lligadas on double bass and Joan Terol on drums. We will also hear flamenco singing from Pablo Martínez, giving the show the final element to achieve an authentic flamenco-jazz sound.
Commissioned by the L’Auditori to mark the centenary of the death of Enric Granados (1867-1916).
