Program
Last year Maria Schneider and her orchestra gave an unforgettable concert in the festival. Two months later, in January of this year, the Maria Schneider Orchestra gave a concert at the annual meeting in New York of the important International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) to almost 6,000 people, which finally confirms Schneider as one of the indisputable reference points in cotemporary music. Now she returns at the head of her fabulous orchestra with a project in response to an invitation from the celebrated stage director, Peter Sellars, who has commissioned from her the composition of a work inspired in Mozart for his new festival, New Crowned Hope, an ambitious look from the present following the maxim of Mozart’s Masonic log, the New Crowned Hope, in the year celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the genius. Four days after the world premier in Vienna, and the very day that commemorates the death of the composer of “The Magic Flute”, the Maria Schneider Orchestra closes the festival with this unusual jazz piece conceived in the Mozart spirit. Long life to music!
