Diego Castro Magas is a Chilean guitarist resident in the UK who has emerged as a leading figure in contemporary guitar performance in recent years. Being a prizewinner in several classical guitar competitions, he has appeared as soloist in more than 18 countries in Europe, America and Oceania. He performs in the Festival Mixtur 2016 as an artist selected in the Open Call Mixtur 2016 and presents a programme dedicated to renowned English composers like Ferneyhough, Erber or Hübler, along with a piece of German composer Wieland Hoban and the premiere of a Miniature by one of the students of the Composition and Sound Experimenting Workshop Mixtur 2016.
On the other hand, DissonArt Ensemble, group in residence, is one of the most interesting ensembles in Europe, with the aim to promote works of recognized as well as emerging composers that deserve to be heard. Thus, the group will also narrowed connection with the Composition and Sound Experimenting Workshop, with the release of a student’s work and the participation in the workshop’s Reading Panel. They offer a concert also with works by prominent names in the composition in Greece, the premiere of the commission of new work to the Russian composer Elvira Garifzyanova and the presence of the creation in Catalonia with works by Oliver Rappoport and Benet Casablancas, composer in residence and teacher at Festival Mixtur 2016.
