Opera, classical music, dance; the librettos of all the performing arts are littered with corpses. Theatres are the greatest crime scenes of all. Sònia Gómez and Los Sara Fontán bring a catalogue of large (and small) deaths to the stage, taking them out of their context and juxtaposing them, making epic climaxes, pathetic endings, comic deaths, universal deaths or the most intimate loss all equal. Examining the precise moment of death, in Fem una bona pena abans de morir (We mourn deeply before we die), the trio seek answers to the questions of what unites us at the end of life, what we need to do before we die, and what will remain of us, on and off the stage.

Escenes, the meeting point for artistic disciplines at L’Auditori, has commissioned this performance as part of the “Death or Return” cycle that is the underlying theme of the 2022-23 season.
