Program
French soprano Axelle Fanyo not only plays a character, she tells a story in song. This curious, versatile artist has earned international acclaim from critics and the public. She will be performing works by Arnold Schönberg and William Bolcom, which she previously performed at the Concours international de Chant-Piano Nadia et Lili Boulanger 2021, where she won first prize. She will also pay tribute to women of African descent with the Negro spiritual Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, and with works by two great twentieth-century composers: Florence Beatrice Price and Margaret Bonds. Finally, she will perform the national premiere of a new piece by Greek composer Sofia Avramidou.
