Program
See the serpent in the hands of one of the few musicians specialising in this unusual Baroque instrument.A unique opportunity to hear the sound of the serpent, a little-known Baroque instrument with a distinctive and unusual appearance complete with leather covering. Although it was invented in 1598 by Edmé Guillaume, it wasn’t until the 18th century when it began to be used in military and religious settings, strengthening the bass sound in church choirs.
Pablo Dopazo, also a euphonium and ophicleide player, is one of the few European musicians specialising in the serpent.
This concert is part of the Museu Music – Original instruments in good hands cycle.
