The traditional distinction between male and female has proved historically inadequate to define the identity of those who do not feel they are represented by a binary view of gender. In the twenty-first century, non-binary identity has come out of the closet and asserted itself. Gender is dead: long live the death of gender!
Following the success of last season’s Amor Odi Radioshow (Love Hate Radio Show), L’Auditori has commissioned Hidden Track and Radio Primavera Sound to produce The Death of Gender Radio Show, reflecting the theme for this season. A show with live music, variety and radio talk shows with a feminist and LGBTIQ+ discourse, intended to highlight identities outside the heteropatriarchal framework. It aims to examine the concept of gender, question stereotypes and see how these issues are reflected in contemporary popular music, through the content of lyrics and the positions adopted by artists.
An all-female band will provide live music with versions of songs by artists including Grace Jones, Antony and the Johnsons, Kae Tempest, Sophie, Pabllo Vittar, Sylvester, David Bowie, and The Slits, with a large and diverse group of singers specially chosen for the event.

                              Collaborators:
