Program
A Celebration of the Protestant Reformation! This year, 2017, the western world is marking the 500th anniversary of an event that would bring radical change to Europe. It began as a disparity in theological thinking, very much restricted to academics and ecclesiastical scholars, yet rapidly led to changes that would forever alter the fabric of society, crossing borders and gradually impacting other cultures.
The simple act performed by Luther at the door of the Wittenberg Castle church on 31 October 1517 would later be regarded as the starting point for a process of modernisation aimed at bringing dignity to humankind and its cultural expressions, from the very personal to the very corporate.
In honour of this we present a musical offering lesser known than gospel yet still linked to protestant cultural identity which today is the heritage of us all. Due to it not being widely performed, a greater level of public anticipation is achieved.
