Program
Coetus combines the rich diversity of the Iberian Peninsula, tradition and new forms of language and expression. Celebratory songs, work songs, lullabies… a display of spectacular percussion instruments and authentic pyrotechnics on the stage!Coetus performed at the International Percussion Festival of Catalonia four years ago with an ambitious Iberian percussion orchestra project.
The idea came from Aleix Tobias who, after travelling and learning the language and techniques of different drum families around the world and having shared the experience of popular Iberian music with maestro Eliseo Parra for 10 years, decided to bring together 12 percussionists to create a large Iberian percussion orchestra. In fact, the group’s proposal was to work on the sounds of a set of percussion instruments, the majority of them unknown or little known, which throughout history have accompanied the songs, ballads, processions and the local festivals and dances of the towns of the Iberian Peninsula (tambourines, rods, jars, mortars, pans, drums, kettledrums, rustic drums…) to create a new, proprietary language inspired by traditional rhythms and dialogues with the voice.
Today they present their second album, Entre Terres, in which you can participate and win various rewards: a masterclass, a tambourine, a “cigaló” (traditional instrument), concert tickets, etc. You’re still in time to participate!! http://www.verkami.com/projects/1084
