    Program

Wagner’s opera Parsifal comes to L’Auditori through excerpts performed by the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu, conducted by Josep Pons. The OBC is increasing its collaboration with the Gran Teatre del Liceu in a two-way stage exchange. While the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya will be visiting deep in the heart of the Liceu for the performances of The Magic Flute by Mozart, the Liceu’s resident orchestra will be appearing in the OBC season performing an intensely symphonic programme, but one that is strongly linked to opera. Under the guidance of Josep Pons – its resident conductor from next season – the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu will be getting up close and personal with the more symphonic Wagner, revealing the German composer’s extraordinary talent in the purely orchestral sphere. This concert will also be used to announce the two-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Wagner that will be celebrated throughout 2013.
