Program

Pianist Alba Ventura performs Ravel’s concerto with the OBC. The programme culminates with Mozart’s Linz Symphony, the cornerstone of his classicism. The well-known concerto for piano and orchestra in G major by Maurice Ravel is a true gem of the piano repertoire and an opportunity for all pianists to show their virtuoso and expressive skills in a highly attractive and inspired work. Alba Ventura, representing L’Auditori – a member of the European Concert Hall Organisation – during the ECHO Rising Stars cycle, will be offering her talent for a piece that straddles Jazz and French Impressionism that seduces through its continuous changes in atmosphere. Barcelona guitarist and composer Ferran Sor, a contemporary of Mozart’s, created numerous works in the prevailing classical style. The OBC will be recovering the Cendrillon Ballet Suite and also performing Mozart’s Symphony no. 36 written by chance in the Austrian town of Linz. The work is a magnificent example of Mozart’s later symphonic work: full of light, vigour and classical splendour.
