Performers | Elizabeth Sombart, piano
From Carnegie Hall to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, she has performed at some of the most prestigious venues including, among others, Suntory Hall, the Herkulessaal, Wigmore Hall, the Conzertgebouw and the Palau de la Música. In 2006 she was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, and in 2008 she received the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. In 1998 she created the Fondation Résonnance foundation in Switzerland, with the aim of helping to bring music to places that it does not ordinarily reach.
Pilar Guarne, piano
This Barcelona-based pianist has performed in venues including the Théâtre de Beaulieu and the Salle Paderewski in Lausanne, the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva, the Yehudi Menuhin Forum in Bern, the Fundación Juan March in Madrid, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest and the Palais des Congrès in Dbayeh, Beirut, among others. In 2009 she was appointed head of the Spanish branch of the Fondation Résonnance.
Diego Miguel-Urzanqui, conductor
His music career has taken him to concert halls all over Europe, the United States and Asia since 1998. He has conducted orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Camerata Regală of Bucharest and the Orchestre Solidaire Résonnance, among others. He also carries out a significant amount of music-related work at Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University.
ORTHEMIS
With more than thirty years of history, ORTHEMIS, The New Cambra de l'Empordà Orchestra, has performed in 44 countries on 5 continents and has been awarded with the Nation Music Prize (in the Classical Music category) by the Departament of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalunya.
In the year 2018, Diego Miguel-Urzanqui accepted the role of conductor, an act which coincided with the restructuring of the orchestra.
Orthemis intends to blend the classical concert season with hybrid projects that combine both gestural theatre with classical music. It's also worth mentioning the success of the performances 'Desconcerto' and “Tempo d’umore', created in conjunction with the theatre director, Jordi Purtí.
