During each academic year, the ESMUC’s various orchestral ensembles present an artistic project aimed at offering a professional experience for participating students and also for people attending the concerts. The ESMUC’s Big Band, part of the Modern Music and Jazz Department, is in the hands of the composer, pianist and teacher Lluís Vidal this year, who will work with the dual aim of contributing to the students’ learning process and building a concert repertoire that represents the different styles that coexist in the world of jazz. With the unique energy of the young musicians and their solid training, experience tells that the quality of the concerts of the ESMUC’s Big Band is not so far off that of concerts by the more prestigious professional bands.
