The works presented by Beethoven in Vienna exude spontaneity, joy and youth. His Piano Concerto No. 1 is in the hands of one of our most international talents, Enrique Bagaría, and the Second Symphony is performed by the highly-experienced Victor Pablo Pérez.The Beethoven who moved to Vienna was no longer a child prodigy nor a young man with talent; he was now a man who had to earn a living. But he also wanted to conquer Vienna. And that he did. He organised concerts like those performed by Mozart a few years earlier, in which he proved himself to be a brilliant pianist and an innovative composer. It soon became clear that the musician had a unique force and energy. He may not yet have been considered a genius, but those first years in Vienna resulted in fresh, direct and inhibited works; indispensable scores that opened the future of music.
