Since her professional debut as Isabella in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri, Vivica Genaux has captivated audiences and critics around the world with her vocal agility and artistic integrity. Her acclaimed career has taken her from her native Alaska to the world’s most prestigious theatres and concert halls, including the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Staatsoper in Vienna.

Her extensive repertoire has done nothing but grow in 2023, with roles such as Ciro from Händel’s oratorio Belshazzar, which she performed at the Theatre an der Wien. Appearances in Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Spain are also planned.

In 2022 Vivica kicked-off the year in Italy, before returning to the Opernhaus Zürich with Pergolesi’s L’olimpiade. Performances with Concerto de’ Cavalieri in Rome, Milan, and Naples were followed by the world premiere of her recital programme ‘Lucifera’ with Third Coast Baroque and Ruben Dubrovsky. Later, she joined Les Musiciens du Louvre for a concert in Genoa, before taking part in a special performance at the Händel-Festspiele Halle. Also in Germany, she performed Alcina in Vivaldi’s Orlando furioso at the Konzerthaus in Dortmund. After singing her first Verdi role, Giulietta in Un giorno di regno, Vivica joined the jury of the 2022 Cesti Competition and travelled to Pittsburgh for the staging of Riccardo Broschi’s Idaspe at the Quantum Theatre. That same year she also performed in Asia and Europe.

Vivica’s engagements in 2021 included performances in several countries including Austria, Russia, and Sweden. She debuted in the title role of Vivaldi’s Argippo and Holofernes in Juditha triumphans, as well as in the title role of Tamerlano, and Counsel in the final version of The Triumph of Time and Truth.

Also noteworthy is the revival of her role of Vagaus in Juditha triumphans; her Il Divino Sassone at the Bayreuth Baroque Festival and her debuts of the title role of Irene de Hasse and Trasimede in Riccardo Broschi’s Merope.
