Sofya Melikyan has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, American Liszt Society, Kennedy Center, Fresno's 'Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concerts', Guangzhou Opera House, Bulgaria Concert Hall and the Luxembourg Chopin Festival and concerts with the Armenian Orchestra, Orchestra State Chamber of Armenia, European Philharmonic Orchestra, Youth National Orchestra of Spain, Orchestra of Córdoba, Orchestra of Valencia, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, North Shore Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Born in Yerevan, she began her training there at the Tchaikovsky School of Music with Anahit Shajbazyan. She continued his studies at the RCSM in Madrid with Joaquín Soriano, obtaining the Honor Extraordinary Award. Later she improved her interpretation with Galina Eguiazarova in Madrid, Ramzi Yassa and Brigitte Engerer in Paris. She did postgraduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York under the tutelage of Solomon Mikowsky.

Passionate of chamber music, she has collaborated with Amaury Coeytaux, Gary Hoffman, Torleif Thedéen, Tanja Becker-Bender, Silvia Simionescu, Lise Berthaud, Kim Kashkashian, Karen Ouzounian and Philippe Graffin.

Her discography includes two solo CDs that received the best praise from the specialized press: Women with works by Gubaidulina, Chitchyan, Saariaho and Quiaro and a finalist in the MIN Awards Spanish Piano Music dedicated to Granados and Mompou. Likewise , The Brahms Project together with David Haroutunian and Mikayel Hakhnazaryan collects the Trios no. 2 and 3. She is currently preparing a recording project around Déodat de Séverac and Ricardo Viñes.

Among her recent performances, concerts with the Toronto Symphony, ORTVE, Real Filharmonia de Galicia, recitals at the Muziekcentrum in Ghent, Sala Flagey in Brussels, PPIANISSIMO Festival in Bulgaria, Fresno State Music Hall, Spanish Music Festival in Cadiz - with an intense program of 11 premieres by Spanish female composers -, Málaga, Marbella, Lugo and a semi-staged project at the Juan March Foundation in Madrid dedicated to 'degenerate' music.
