The interest in knowing and sharing the music of our time has led Ricardo Descalzo to dedicate all his professional activity to its study and dissemination. This dedication has allowed him to obtain multiple awards in the field of specialized international competitions. He has also won first prize in more than fifteen national and international competitions.

He has received classes from Margarita Sitjes at the Óscar Esplá Conservatory in Alicante, Alexander Hrisanide in Amsterdam, Ana Guijarro in Seville and Josep Colom at the University of Alcalá de Henares.

His intense concert activity has led him to play in important halls around the world, and he has been invited by different universities and conservatories to offer specialization courses in contemporary music for pianists and composers in Europe, the USA and Korea.

He is currently working on an audiovisual project recorded at the ADDA Auditorium of the Alicante Provincial Council, "Piano Today" which has become a world reference portal for anyone interested in learning about the solo repertoire written in recent years for piano. He has been a professor of current piano repertoire at Musikene – Higher Music Center of the Basque Country for 17 years.
