Barcelona composer invited during the 2017-2018 season at L’Auditori de Barcelona, his recent work explores the intersection between instrument and electronics, with the passage of time and the alteration of perception being two central elements of his musical conception.
He received classical training as a pianist and began his composition studies in Barcelona with Enric Palomar and Agustí Charles. Later, he moved to Paris to study with Yoshihisa Taïra, Frédéric Durieux and Denis Cohen, obtaining the latter two prizes for composition and orchestration at the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance.
His works have been performed in numerous concerts, meetings and festivals throughout Europe and North America. He has received commissions from the Symphony Barcelona Orchestra, the Tàpies Foundation, ME_MMIX, Bcn216, CrossingLines, Butxaca Opera Festival, UMS'n JIP/Festival Mixtur, Duo Links, Laps ensemble, Rémi Durupt, Miguel -Ángel Lorente, Víctor de la Rosa and Miquel Bernat, and has collaborated with the Multilateral Ensemble, Taller Sonoro, Spanish Brass Luur Metals, Funktion, Orchester de la Lorraine, Orquestra de las Illes Balears, Alberto Menchén, Jan Gerdes, Miquel Bernat, Erica Wise and Philippe Spiesser, among others.
Among the distinctions received, the XXXVIII Reina Sofía Prize for Musical Composition stands out, in 2021, as well as the Frederic Mompou Composition Competition prize, the Dolors Calvet i Prat Composition Competition prize, the "Colegio de España y del Instituto de las Artes Sécénicas y de la Música" (INAEM), the support for creators of the Phonos Foundation and the Berliner Opernpreis award. His work has also led him to receive the support of different institutions, including the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
Part of his music has been recorded by the label Neu Records: Pendular motion (2021).
He is currently a professor in the composition department at the Liceu Superior Music Conservatory.
