Núria Gibert Ballester studied music at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, graduating with a teaching degree in musical language and professional piano. She studied teaching at Blanquerna – Ramon Llull University, where she obtained a teaching diploma, specialising in science. She has taken courses in the teaching methodologies of Dalcroze, Martenot and Willems for piano and musical language (1983-1998) in Barcelona and Santander, and in instrumental and chamber music performance specialising in piano at the Escola de Música de Barcelona (1983-1987).
She has worked as a music teacher in infant and primary schools in Barcelona (the Bàrkeno School from 1980 to 1986, and the Parc del Guinardó School from 1986 to 1996) and conducted the latter school’s Dringall and Ítaca choirs. She taught music at secondary school level at the Institut Josep Serrat i Bonastre in Barcelona from 1996 to 1999 and was a musical language teacher at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona from 1983 to 1989 and at the Casa dels Nens Municipal School of Music in Barcelona from 1993 to 1995 and from 1999 to the present. From 2005 to 2007, she taught music workshops for pregnant mothers, and from 2005 to the present, she has taught at Barcelona City Council music workshops for children and babies aged from two months to three years old. From 1996 to 1998 she taught musical language and interdisciplinarity on postgraduate courses in music, and from 2002 to 2008 taught a range of courses to train music teachers. Since 2005, she has also lectured in early childhood education at the Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences of Blanquerna – Ramon Llull University.
Since 1982, she has given courses and talks on musical learning to teachers at nursery, infant and primary schools organised by Barcelona City Council, the Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona and the Government of Andorra’s Ministry of Education and Culture. She gave lectures on “Interdisciplinarity between music and other areas of the infant and primary school curriculum” at teaching seminars organised by Barcelona City Council (1994) and at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1994). Finally, since 2005, she has given talks on “How children learn music from conception” to groups of parents from different entities, to students of music teaching and early childhood education at the Universitat Ramon Llull and to students of early childhood education at the Ferran Tallada and Salvador Seguí secondary schools in Badalona.
In the “Escolta + Bé” program at the L’Auditori, he conducted the conference on October 19, 2010, together with the musical director Manel Valdivieso. He has provided training to the directors and teachers of the “Red de Escuelas de Música de Medellín” on family music education from 0 to 3 years old (October 2-10, 2010), conducting workshops with families from the Schools of the Network and has participated by giving lectures and training: “Early Childhood Music Introduction”, from October 6th to 8th, 2010, at the “IV National Seminar on Pedagogies and Didactics of Music at the University of Antioquia” in Medellín (Colombia).
