Michel Doneda (1954) is one of the major figures of the improvised scene, a soprano saxophonist in the tradition of Sydney Bechet, Steve Lacy and Evan Parker.

An attentive traveller who listens to the world, he has not ceased to travel the continents (from Africa to the USA and Japan) for more than forty years and to multiply his collaborations with numerous improvising musicians, but also with painters, poets, dancers or experimental filmmakers. Co-organizer, mainly in Toulouse, of several editions of “La marche de la poésie” with the poet Serge Pey, as well as of "Chantiers d'art provisoires", and the Influx Festival. Numerous performances in gardens, forests, but also in urban areas, often with dancers.

Today, he is a member of “La grande volière”, a project with six soprano saxophonists and the audio naturalist Marc Namblard, as well as a member of the ensemble Le-UN together with 25 improvising artists. Since 2018, he is active in Berlin where he participates in several musical.

He is involved in the Studio Borne45 in Berlin and collaborates with bassplayer Alexander Frangenheim as a duet. Michel Doneda is the author of the book Miettes 2 published by the association Momeludies and of Carnet Vert published on the magazine Des Ressources.
