Saxophonist Martí Serra began his artistic career in the 90s, playing in various jazz and fusion groups from the local Catalan scene. After living for a season in Boston, where he studied at the Berklee College of Music, he began playing with big names in Catalan jazz such as Giulia Valle, Jordi Matas and Raynald Colom, with whom he recorded his first albums.

Since then, he has released eight albums as a leader or co-leader, and participated in thirty more as a sideman. He has worked with great jazzmen in Spain, such as Guillermo McGill, Jorge Rossy, M. A. Chastang, David Mengual or Marco Mezquida, and also with international figures such as Al Foster, Eddie Marshall or Eddie Henderson.

Serra has combined his jazz career with forays into traditional root music – Eliseo Parra, Coetus, Quartiana – and author song, collaborating as performer and arranger on the album Amar la trama (2010) by Jorge Drexler, and publishing his own album of songs, Cançons mecanoscrites (2016).

He has been awarded with several prizes from the Association of Jazz Musicians of Catalonia (2003, 2004 and 2006) and an Enderrock prize (2009) with his trio alongside Xavi Maureta and Rai Ferrer.

During twenty years, he has been a teacher of saxophone and improvisation at the Badalona School of Modern Music.
