Francesco Piemontesi is known for his interpretations of Mozart and the Romantic repertoire. We highlight his recent engagements with the Berlin German Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and the symphony orchestras of Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Dallas. He also returned to perform with the National Academy Orchestra of Santa Cecilia (Rome) and the RAI Symphony Orchestra (Turin) with Constantinos Carydis. He embarked on a tour with the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer, as well as with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe (London).

Piemontesi regularly performs with the world’s most important orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swedish and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestras, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Paris Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. He is also a frequent guest at renowned festivals such as Salzburg, Lucerne, Schleswig-Holstein Musik, as well as the BBC Proms.

He has performed with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Charles Dutoit, Iván Fischer, Daniel Harding, Manfred Honeck, Marek Janowski, Paavo Järvi, Ton Koopman, Zubin Mehta, Roger Norrington, Gianandrea Noseda, Yuri Temirkanov, Joana Mallwitz, Herbert Blomstedt, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, Karina Canellakis, and Thomas Søndergård.

In chamber music, Piemontesi has collaborated with Leif Ove Andsnes, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Leonidas Kavakos, Stephen Kovacevich, Heinrich Schiff, Christian Tetzlaff, Jörg Widmann, Tabea Zimmermann, Janine Jansen, Augustin Hadelich, and the Emerson Quartet.

Born in Locarno (Switzerland), he studied with Arie Vardi and Alfred Brendel.
