Founded in 1981 in Badalona, Cobla Marinada became one of the most active formations in the sardana world, taking part in most relevant meetings and in many sardana auditions organized throughout Catalonia. 

Over the years the group has performed under the baton of emblematic conductors such as Antoni Ros-Marbà, Salvador Brotons, Diego Martín-Etxaberria, Josep Maria Bernat, Joan Pich i Santasusana, Joan-Josep Blay, Jordi Molina, Esteve Molero, Tobias Gossmann and the current, Alfons Reverté. It has also collaborated with soloists and formations such as the pianist Albert Guinovart, the singers Josep-Ramon Olivé, Anna Alàs and Carmen Cuesta, the Ramon Escalé jazz trio, the ArsinNova Chamber Orchestra, the Polifònica de Puig-Reig, the Symphony Band of Roquetes-Nou Barris, the dance company Factoria Mascaró or the Colla Sardanista Violetes del Bosc. 

Its extensive discography - more than thirty records - and its repeated presence at various music festivals and conventions, such as the Pau Casals International Festival, the Ripoll International Music Festival, Palau de la Música Catalana, L’Auditori, the Kursaal Theater or the Palau Reial de Pedralbes. 

Together with the sardanas activity, Cobla Marinada has continuously looked after the creation of new productions, sometimes awarded with national prizes: Retrats d'un sentiment (2014), produced together with Colla Violetes del Bosc and awarded with the 2015 Sardana Capital Prize, and La viola d'or with music by Enric Morera and lyrics by Apel·les Mestres (2015) a Catalan Lyrical Theater from 1914 recovered on the occasion of the Morera Year and produced by the Associació per a la Divulgació, l'Ensenyament i la Promoció de la Música Catalana (ADEP.cat) whose recording was awarded the Critic's Award for the best album of the year 2015 for classical music, Premi Enderrock 2016.
