The popular Catalan actress Carlota Olcina was born in Sabadell and studied theatre, music and dance at the Memory School of Barcelona. In 1998 she made her first foray into professional theatre with the play Bernadeta Xoc, by Marga Puyo. Her first television appearances were on the series Laura and Laberint d’ombres, both on TV3. In 2000 she joined El cor de la ciutat until 2005.

In parallel, she acted in the play Terra Baixa by Àngel Guimerà, directed by Ferran Madico at the TNC. In 2002, she was a cast member of Dissabte, diumenge, dilluns, by Eduardo de Filippo. In 2006 she played in Panorama des del pont by Arthur Miller, directed by Rafel Duran at the TNC and in L’Agressor by Thomas Jonigk, directed by Carme Portaceli at the Nave Ivanow cultural creation centre in Barcelona. In 2007-2008 she starred in Stefan Zweig’s Carta d’una desconeguda.

After acting in short films and movies, such as Salvador and El legado, in 2008 she starred in the miniseries Artemisia Sánchez, for TV3 and Italian Rai, and returned to national Amar en tiempos revueltos until 2012. In 2011 she starred in Julieta y Romeo, by William Shakespeare and, in 2012, she had a role in the play Nuestra clase by Tadeusz Slobodzianek and starred in Oleanna, directed by David Selvas.

Her film premieres include El cuerpo, alongside Belén Rueda and Hugo Silva. In 2013 she starred in the series Gran reserva. El origen, and acted in the TVE series Los misterios de Laura. In 2014 she opened the plays Mata’m by Manel Dueso, and Pulmons by Ducan McMillan.

In 2015 she played Petra in the TVE series Seis hermanas, for 140 episodes. In 2016 she joined TV3’s Nit i dia. In 2017 she starred in the series Merlí.

She has always combined television and theatre. In recent years she has acted in plays such as Dansa d’agost by Brian Fiel, and  Incendis by Wajdi Mouawad. She recently filmed La última noche, directed by Oriol Paulo, a Netflix production. She is currently shooting the TV3 series Com si fos ahir.
