The concert programme is unchanged. A portrait of the works of Philip Sparke himself, it includes the world premiere of Hymn at Twilight, commissioned by L’Auditori.
Andrea Gasperin is the only Italian winner of the “Golden Baton” at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade in the Netherlands, and has received numerous other international accolades.
His first degree in music was as a trumpeter, then he obtained a master’s degree at the ISEB in Trento, Italy, studying with Jan Cober and Felix Hauswirth, followed by studies at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles where he graduated with “La Plus Grande Distinction”. He studied composition and attended master classes with teachers such as José Rafael Pascual-Vilaplana, Jorma Panula and Clarke Rundell.
He has conducted orchestras and professional bands all around Europe and also collaborated with opera houses. He is one of the founders of the Catchpenny Ensemble, a group formed in the Netherlands that specialises in contemporary music, and is conductor of the Italian wind ensemble Brixiae Harmoniae.
In 2016, he worked with conductor Jader Bignamini and singers Anna Netrebko, Ainhoa Arteta and Yusif Eyvazov at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
In 2019 he headed a 30-concert tour of China, and he recently debuted with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Symphony Orchestra and the Arena di Verona Symphony Orchestra.
