Una marató de 14 h amb integrals de música de cambra, tret de sortida del Festival Beethoven250 de L’Auditori

The Beethoven250 Festival will start on 11 January with an extraordinary 14-hour marathon of non-stop chamber music by the German composer in L’Auditori’s Sala 2 Oriol Martorell. The event will include performances of the complete piano trios, the sonatas for violin and piano and for cello and piano with prominent Catalan artists such as the Ludwig Trio, Vera and Claudio Martinez Mehner, Miguel Colom, Arnau Tomás and Trio Fortuny.


The programme, which will run until 3 July, also features the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra which will be performing all of Beethoven’s symphonies, the Violin Concerto, the Triple Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano, and his complete piano concertos.

The area of new music creation will feature performances of Beethoven-inspired projects. These will include, among others, David Lang’s opera prisoner of the state, a work by sound artist Christine Sun Kim (who was born deaf) and the Revisiting event, with Xavi Torresbeing commissioned this year to re-interpret Beethoven’s piano sonatas.
