.The overwhelming romanticism and popular melodies of The Rose Cavalier close a year of homage to Richard Strauss; two works of Carl Nielsen begin the 150th anniversary of the most important Danish composer, and to accompany them, the work of Ricard Lamote de Grignon dedicated to his friend Ventura i Gassol.
When American troops began to be deployed in Germany, they entered a house of Garmisch and an octogenarian grandfather said: “Hello, I am the composer of The Rose Cavalier.” So direct Richard Strauss showed, aware that despite having written the most famous works of the beginning of the twentieth century, The Rose Cavalier surpassed them all in popularity. Nielsen enjoyed a hit with the Concerto for Flute and Orchestra: its beauty, difficulty and cheerful spirit have made it an indispensable work.
