Program
A performance by three Catalan concert bands encompassing different styles and musical eras, delivered with the versatility and quality we come to expect from bands from Catalonia. Local choirs, from children’s choirs to those from the Escola de Música, along with the Unió Musical Jaume Balmes from Santa Bàrbara, will perform “Wink at you – Fantasy for winds” with the Band, which means that there will be over 150 high-calibre performers on the stage. The Banda de Benissanet will perform, amongst others, the extraordinary piece “Finale” from the New World Symphony. What’s more the URV Band will combine with the URV Orchestra to perform together in a completely new venture. It’s worth mentioning that two pieces by special Catalan writers will be premiered in this concert, as well as the winning work from the 5th Composition Competition of the Catalan Federation of Musical Societies (FCSM) “Josep Maria Lleixà i Subirats”.
