Program

In a society dominated by Cartesian rationalism, as in 17th century England, lunatics were seen as fascinating, impulsive figures that were both rejected and pitied by society. Such people were allowed to display their madness despite the prevailing social taboos and rules. To emphasise this, some composers decided to create music based on these special people.
This concert, featuring a recital by Xavier Sabata, is an opportunity to hear their colourful views of their society.
