The proceeds from the 23rd WDO charity concert will be donated to the l’Unitat de Recerca en Medicina Oncològica Molecular i Translacional de l’Institut de Investigació Biomédica August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) and Grup Àgata, Associació Catalana de Dones Afectades de Càncer de Mama (www.grupagata.org).
The WDO will be delighted to feature renowned international vioncello soloist Lluís Claret, who will perform “Concert A minor, op. 129 for violoncello and orchestra” by Robert Schumann. It will also be a special honour to open the concert with 'Voci della Natura' by Catalan composer Jordi Cervelló, specially arranged for the WDO for these charity concerts.
Finally, the WDO is looking forward to performing one of Johannes Brahms’ most beautiful works, Symphony No. 2 in D major.
The World Doctors Orchestra (WDO) combines the pleasure of great music with charity. Two or three times a year, a selection of 1,000 physicians from over 50 nations swap their white coats for evening attire and perform a charity concert for people in need of healthcare. The proceeds from the concerts go to selected non-profit medical aid organizations.
