L’OBC participa al darrer disc d’Albert Guinovart

19-Nov-2020 – Aleix Palau

Pianist and composer Albert Guinovart presented his latest CD, El lament de la terra (The Lament of the Earth), accompanied by theBarcelona Symphony Orchestra. On the CD, produced under the Sony Classical label, Guinovart recorded his Concert for Piano and Orchestra No. 3, Les mans del vent (The Hands of the Wind), and the symphony El somni de Gaudí (Gaudí’s Dream).

In El lament de la terra, Guinovart invites us to reflect on the urgent need to become actively involved in caring for the planet and for the environment.

The CD was recorded last December in Hall 1 Pau Casals at L’Auditori de Barcelona, under the direction of conductor Diego Martin-Etxebarria with Guinovart at the piano.

As we can read in the booklet that accompanies the CD: “Albert Guinovart’s music makes us forget how rashly we face the unknown. Albert transports us back home, to charming Barcelona, to that little piece of Barcelona that we all carry in our hearts. His music defies the storm’s thunder, transforming it into colour, and when it is hard for us to lift our spirits, all we need do is to recall Guinovart’s melody for a smile to light up our faces again because his music is suffused with beauty and grandeur”.

Albert Guinovart’s third CD under the Sony Classical label rounds off all his concerts for piano, following two previous ones conducted by Vasily Petrenko and performed by the State Symphony Academic Orchestra of St. Petersburg. It also joins the composer’s extensive repertoire of works for piano, a selection of which can be heard on his last solo CD, Nocturne.
