L’Auditori de Barcelona ofereix el concert d’Emmanuel Pahud i l’OBC de forma gratuïta a través de L’Auditori Digital

03-Dec-2020 – Aleix Palau

On the weekend of 11, 12 and 13 December, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra will be offering the programme Prélude, a very special event that will feature one of the most acclaimed flautists of our times, Emmanuel Pahud.

The Swiss soloist is coming to Barcelona to perform the national premiere of the Flute Concerto by Marc-André Dalbavie. This work is dedicated to Pahud and presents a confident exploration of the possibilities of sound colour and sound process as the drivers of a virtuosity which never comes across as superfluous.

The concert on Sunday 13 December at 11 am can be watched live and free of charge on L’Auditori Digital as a thank you for all the support and affection that L’Auditori de Barcelona has received in these difficult times. In addition, the concert will be available for a month in the catalogue on the platform for all who would like to watch it.

The concert was scheduled to be conducted by the resident conductor of the OBC, Kazushi Ono, but due to illness he has had to cancel his participation. Ono sent us these words:

It saddens me not to be able to be in Barcelona for my concerts with the OBC on the weekend of 11 December. In addition to the problems that the pandemic has brought to all of us, I have been affected by a case of enteritis that makes it impossible for me to travel. It could not have arrived at a worse moment. For this reason, I will have to wait until March to be with you all again.

The conductor Ilan Volkov has kindly agreed to conduct this programme and will be joining rehearsals with the OBC in the coming week.
